At the recent BC Yukon State Convention 2012, our Council 9846 was awarded the Youth Service Award for the Christmas Card Project. Congratulations to Brothers Eleazar Sager for leading the Project, Brothers Sam Hu (FS), Dennis Kwan (PGK) and Mark Edward Custodio (DGK) for their efforts and good works. April is usually a busy month for every Council in the State, as it is the month when submissions for State awards are made, mandatory applications for registrations to the State convention is carried out, wrap up reporting to State regarding membership and retention is complied with and our own Council matters such as programs and elections for the next year are to be considered.

The 100th Anniversary Solemn High Mass on April 14th and gala that followed was much appreciated and praised for its success. Our Council is thankful for being of assistance. At this time I would like to acknowledge the good work done by Brother Jet Valmonte and his sub-committee of helpers, and those Brothers who assisted with the honour guard, always a good display of the Knights, always appreciation when members of our Council form the bulk of the contingent guard! Well done brothers!

Brother Mark Edward and I attended the State Convention on Friday (27th) and Saturday. The theme night this year was ‘Canadian Football’, it was a fun evening with areas of scheduling had much to forgive! The business session as usual is long, and our Council participated with the ‘per Diem’ sub-committee and its recommendations for 2012-2013. As a Council, we should be proud for receiving the youth service award for 2012. This is the second time we have been awarded this prize, and this year should applaud the good work for the Youth Committee headed by Brother Eleazar Sager, Brother Dennis Kwan and Brother Mark Edward for their efforts with the Christmas Card Project. We should also appreciate and thank Mrs. Louanne Richards, head teacher, for giving us the opportunity to work with the children of the PREP programme.

Our meeting in May is also the election meeting and Brother Dennis Kwan (Immediate Past Grand Knight) is chairing the committee this year. We will also have a presentation by a group leader from ‘Catholic Outreach.’ Look forward to seeing you at our next meeting, May 3rd., 7:00 PM, meeting room upstairs!
